There are two engines available: a 3.8L V6 and a 4.6L V8. The 3.8 produces 290 hp, while the 4.6 makes 376 hp. Both engines utilize continuously variable valve timing and four valves per cylinder. Both engines are mated to 6-speed automatic transmissions with Shiftronic manual shift mode for more control over the gear changes.
The Genesis' suspension consists of an independent 5-link setup that also includes stabilizer bars. The steering is speed-sensitive and the brakes are ventilated discs all around. Standard features include heated power mirrors, fog lamps, automatic headlamps and leather seats that are heated and 8-way power adjustable. Other features include a leather-wrapped steering wheel and a proximity entry system.
All Genesis sedans feature standard electronic stability control, anti-lock brakes with brake assist, advanced dual front airbags, front and rear side-curtain airbags and tire-pressure monitoring. Sedans also have and rear side-impact airbags and the 4.6 sedan adds standard traction control.
Inside, the 3.8 includes leather seating, heated power front seats, dual-zone climate control, XM radio and steering-wheel mounted audio controls. The 4.6 adds a few extras such as a power sunroof, 18-inch wheels, proximity entry and push-button start. The Technology Package is optional on the 4.6, and includes a 17-speaker system from Lexicon with DVD, XM NavTraffic, HID headlights, front and rear parking assist, rear backup camera and a cooled driver's seat.
The Premium package for the Genesis 3.8 adds a sunroof, rain-sensing windshield wipers, a Lexicon 14-speaker sound system, navigation and a rearview camera, while Premium Plus gets 18-inch alloy wheels.
